Meet, our very own, Jeff Whitlock!

Jeff Whitlock grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina.  He graduated from John T. Hoggard High School and later Central Piedmont Community College where he started with a major in Architectural Technology and later switched to Electronics. In 1990, Jeff started off as a technician and worked his way up over the course of 28 years in the copier industry.  Three years ago Jeff was offered his current position as Director of Service by Roger Hendrix, the head of Hendrix Business Systems. He describes his current workplace as a great place to be. Since the company is family owned, Jeff thinks the open lines of communication throughout the organization makes it easier for him to do his job and to liaise with the employees in the other departments. Additionally, the company’s customer-oriented approach and willingness to listen and serve their customers are what makes them stand out from the rest of the competition and in turn generates new and repeat customers. This approach is one that Jeff highly appreciates about the company. In fact over the three years, he has been on board, his team has managed to increase the company’s First Call Effectiveness (FCE) from 55% to 75%, for which they won a national award for consistency. This is an accomplishment he is particularly proud of and when he speaks of it he often credits Barry Houser and Ezra Ethridge who acted as his mentors in his beginning years when he started in service management. They coached him on how to manage people effectively and how to run a service organization and he is very grateful for their guidance and influence in his career.

In his personal life, you may not have realized that Jeff is the holder of a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Through dedication and perseverance, he was able to reach this level of achievement. Even though he practices this form of martial art in his leisure time, he applies the same principles of self-discipline, quick thinking and never giving up to his projects and managing his team. When he’s not spending time with his family…namely wife Debra, son Jeffrey and two adorable beagles, he is usually snowboarding, learning more about Mustangs and muscle cars or hiking. Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada is a hiking destination that is indelibly etched in his memory, as he described the view as breathtaking.

Jeff lives by the mantra “honesty and integrity are the most important set of values to have.” Being “a man of his word” is also what he strives to help him stand out from the competitive professional landscape. With his son Jeffrey, like within himself and his professional team members, you can see these mantras taking shape.  These concepts blend perfectly with the corporate culture here at Hendrix Business Systems and it’s the reason why Jeff is such a great fit for us now and into the future.
